Terms

1. About Autowise and these terms

These terms apply between you as a customer and Autowise AS (company reg. no. 997 008 901, VAT registered) when you use our website, request a quote, book a vehicle or use our workshop services.

Contact details:

  • Autowise AS

  • Strømsveien 322, 1081 Oslo, Norway

  • Phone: +47 22 32 34 00

  • Email: post@autowise.no

By ordering a service or using the website you accept these terms. If you are a consumer, mandatory rights under Norwegian law (including the Right of Withdrawal Act, the Consumer Purchases Act and the Contracts Act) apply regardless of what is stated here. Nothing in these terms limits such rights.

2. Our services

Autowise provides the following services in Oslo and Eastern Norway:

  • Car rental – daily, weekly and monthly rental of cargo vans, refrigerated vans, aerial lifts, VIP shuttles and more.
  • Car wrapping – colour change, paint protection and fleet branding.
  • Repair – mechanical and bodywork/accident repair.
  • Service and maintenance – periodic service and EU vehicle inspection.
  • Glass replacement – vehicle glass replacement with calibration of driver-assist systems.

Images, descriptions and prices on the website are indicative. The binding details of your order are set out in the rental agreement or the written quote/work order you receive.

3. Bookings, quotes and formation of contract

When you submit a booking or quote request via the website, this is a request and not a binding contract. A contract is formed only once Autowise has confirmed the order in writing (normally by email) or, where online payment applies, once payment has been completed.

After a booking request we may hold the vehicle for a limited number of days pending confirmation. Reserved vehicles and time slots are released if the request is not confirmed within the deadline.

Quotes for workshop services are non-binding until accepted and are valid for the period stated in the quote. Autowise may decline a request, for example due to lack of availability, incomplete information or suspected misuse.

You are responsible for ensuring that the information you provide (name, email, phone, dates, pickup/return location, etc.) is correct. Confirmations, the rental agreement and the "manage booking" link are sent to the email address you provide.

4. Prices, fees and VAT

All prices are stated in Norwegian kroner (NOK). Unless clearly stated otherwise, consumer prices are inclusive of value added tax (currently 25%). The price shown at the time of booking is the price that applies to that booking.

In addition to the base price, the following may apply where relevant and disclosed:

  • additional equipment and services,
  • mileage beyond the agreed limit,
  • fuel, charging and failure to refuel/recharge on return,
  • extra cleaning in case of abnormal soiling,
  • road tolls, ferries, parking and similar costs,
  • fees, fines and administration charges relating to traffic offences during the rental period,
  • parts and materials for workshop services.

Obvious typing or pricing errors are not binding where the error ought to have been understood by the customer.

5. Payment

Payment is made using the payment methods Autowise offers at any given time, for example card payment, Vipps, invoice, bank transfer or payment on site. Online card payments are processed by our payment provider (Nets); Autowise does not store full card numbers.

For rentals, a deposit or card pre-authorisation may be required as security for the excess, fuel, tolls, fees and any damage. Any unused deposit is released after the rental has ended and been settled.

Late payment incurs interest under the Norwegian Late Payment Interest Act, as well as reminder fees and debt-collection charges under applicable rules.

6. Specific car rental terms

For vehicle rental, the following also applies, together with the signed rental agreement:

  • Driver: The driver must hold a valid driving licence for the relevant vehicle class and meet the minimum age and licence-holding requirements set out in the rental agreement. Only drivers registered in the rental agreement may drive the vehicle.
  • Use: The vehicle must be used in a normal and lawful manner and only for its intended purpose. It is not permitted to drive under the influence, take part in competitions, sub-let the vehicle, carry more passengers or cargo than permitted, or use the vehicle for unlawful purposes.
  • Geography: Driving outside Norway requires Autowise's prior consent.
  • Smoking and animals: Smoking is not permitted. Transport of animals must be agreed in advance.
  • Fuel/charging and cleanliness: The vehicle must be returned with the same fuel/charge level and in the same condition as at handover, normally cleaned.
  • Tolls, speed and parking: You are responsible for tolls, parking, speeding fines, fees and other matters relating to your use during the rental period.
  • Return: The vehicle must be returned at the agreed time and place. Late return may incur additional rental charges and fees.
  • Breakdown and incidents: In the event of breakdown, damage, theft or accident, you must contact Autowise immediately and follow instructions. Personal injury, theft or vandalism must be reported to the police.

7. Insurance, excess and liability for damage

The rental vehicles are insured. As the renter, you are nonetheless liable for damage, loss and costs arising during the rental period, normally limited to the agreed excess per incident, as set out in the rental agreement.

The excess limitation does not apply in cases of intent, gross negligence, driving under the influence, use contrary to the terms, or where damage is reported incompletely/incorrectly. In such cases you may be held liable for the full loss.

You are liable for damage not covered by the insurance, including, for example, damage to the underbody/roof due to incorrect height, wrong fuel, lack of oil/fluids, lost keys and interior damage.

8. Workshop services (wrapping, repair, service and glass)

For workshop services the following also applies:

  • Work begins once you have approved the quote or work order. Significant additional work or extra costs are agreed with you before being carried out.
  • Parts and materials may be original parts or equivalent parts as agreed.
  • Autowise warrants the work performed in accordance with applicable industry standards and the work order. Your statutory complaint rights apply in addition.
  • You are notified when the vehicle is ready for collection. Vehicles not collected by the agreed time may be charged a storage fee.
  • Autowise has a right of retention over the vehicle until the order is paid in full, to the extent permitted by law.

9. Changes and cancellation

Changes to a booking (for example dates or vehicle) are possible subject to availability and may affect the price. Cancellation terms, deadlines and any fees are set out in your confirmation or rental agreement.

In the event of a no-show without notice, all or part of the rental may be charged. Autowise may terminate a rental or order in the event of material breach of these terms.

10. Right of withdrawal

When you as a consumer enter into a contract with Autowise online (distance selling), the Norwegian Right of Withdrawal Act applies. Please note the following important exceptions:

  • Car rental: Contracts for car rental that specify a particular date or period for performance are exempt from the right of withdrawal under section 22(m) of the Right of Withdrawal Act. Cancellation is therefore governed by the section on changes and cancellation above.
  • Workshop services: As a general rule you have a 14-day right of withdrawal. If you expressly request that the work begins before the withdrawal period expires and the service is completed, the right of withdrawal lapses once the service has been fully provided. If you request that work starts during the withdrawal period and then withdraw before completion, you may be charged for the part already performed.

The standard withdrawal form and further information are available on request. To exercise the right of withdrawal you can notify us at post@autowise.no before the deadline expires.

11. Customer obligations and prohibited use

You undertake to provide accurate information, to use the website and services in accordance with the law and these terms, and not to misuse the booking, quote or contact functions. It is not permitted to attempt to gain unauthorised access, disrupt operations or use the website for unlawful or misleading purposes.

12. Complaints and dispute resolution

If you are dissatisfied, please contact us first at post@autowise.no so that we can find a solution. Complaints should be made within a reasonable time after the issue was discovered.

If we are unable to reach agreement, you as a consumer may bring the matter before the Norwegian Consumer Authority (Forbrukertilsynet) for mediation, and subsequently, if necessary, the Consumer Disputes Committee (Forbrukerklageutvalget) (forbrukertilsynet.no). For contracts concluded online you may also use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform.

13. Limitation of liability and force majeure

Autowise is liable for loss under general rules of compensation. To the extent permitted by law, and without limiting mandatory consumer rights, Autowise is not liable for indirect loss, consequential damage or lost profit.

Autowise is not liable for delay or failure to perform caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control (force majeure), for example extreme weather, strikes, fire, supplier failure or public-authority orders.

14. Privacy and cookies

Autowise processes personal data in accordance with our privacy policy. The website uses cookies, and analytics cookies are only set if you consent. You can change your choice at any time via "Cookie settings" in the footer.

15. Changes to the terms

Autowise may update these terms. The version in force at any given time is published on the website. For contracts already entered into, the terms in force at the time of conclusion apply.

16. Governing law and venue

The contract and these terms are governed by Norwegian law. Disputes shall be sought resolved amicably. If a case is brought before the courts, Oslo District Court (Oslo tingrett) is agreed as the legal venue. If you are a consumer, you may always use your statutory (ordinary) legal venue.
